Requirements for obtaining a real estate license in Colorado

For Colorado Brokers:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Complete the required pre-licensing education (168 hours)
• Pass the Colorado Real Estate Broker's Exam
• Undergo a background check and fingerprinting
• Obtain Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance. FYI, new Colorado licensees might be covered by their sponsoring broker's umbrella E&O policy, but it's advisable to confirm this arrangement.
• Find a sponsoring broker (for those looking to work under an employing broker)
• Submit the application for licensure along with the required fee(s). (Estimated around $600)

What score do I need to pass?

In Colorado, the real estate broker exam includes 80 national questions and 74 state-specific questions. To pass, candidates must correctly answer at least 60 questions from the national portion and 53 from the state portion.

How long do I have to complete the exam?

For the Colorado real estate broker exam, you have 120 minutes to complete the national portion and 110 minutes for the state-specific portion.
