Define Encroachment in Real Estate
Encroachment:
Encroachment is when someone's property, like a building or a fence, goes beyond their own property line and extends onto someone else's land. It can cause disputes between neighbors and might need to be resolved legally.
Example:
For example, Sarah builds a new fence in her backyard. However, she accidentally places it 3 feet over her property line and onto her neighbor Jim's land. This fence is now an encroachment on Jim's property, and they might need to work together to fix the issue or take it to court if they can't agree.
